Braces for Kids: Helping Kids Achieve Their Best Smile
We are a Top Braces Provider for Kids in Mount Vernon & Orcas Island, WA
Halgren Orthodontics is proud to offer several age-appropriate orthodontic treatment plans for your little ones. Treatment for young children with baby and adult teeth is known as Interceptive Treatment. Early evaluation appointments can help Dr. Halgren to develop an Interceptive Treatment plan for your child.
Interceptive treatment can help children with crowding or spacing issues and provides room for future permanent teeth. This treatment usually lasts about 6-12 months and focuses on specific problem areas. After your child completes their treatment, Dr. Halgren will continue to monitor their growth to see if they need further orthodontic treatment. We find that children quickly adjust to braces, and parents love the transformation they bring.
Braces for Kids at Halgren Orthodontics
At Halgren Orthodontics, we want you and your child to feel comfortable with your treatment. It may seem early to start Interceptive Treatments by age six, but the benefits will only improve your child’s health and development. Dr. Halgren and his team help even the youngest patients understand the treatment and how to care for their braces. Interceptive treatment can treat issues such as:
- Malocclusion or bad bite
- Spacing or crowding issues
- Jaw pain and headaches
- Bad habits like thumb-sucking.
Dr. Halgren and his team will take several photos, x-rays, and digital scans to get a clear picture of your child’s mouth. He will then create an individualized interceptive treatment plan for your child. Dr. Halgren and his team want you to understand every step of the treatment process, so this is a great time to ask any questions about treatment or about caring for braces. We think you will be impressed with the development interceptive treatment gives your child.
Knowing Your Options: Which Type of Braces is Right For You?
Now that you know about the benefits of interceptive treatment, how will you know which type of braces will be the best for your child’s smile? Leave that part up to the experts! There are several factors that Dr. Halgren will consider when developing your child’s interceptive treatment plan and the type of braces best for them. The treatment goals, degree of misalignment, treatment speed, cost and aesthetic preferences are just a few of the determining factors.
Each orthodontic case is unique and requires a custom treatment plan paired with the correct treatment type. Dr. Halgren offers various types of treatment to better serve each patient’s individual needs. At Halgren Orthodontics, we have three different braces options; traditional braces, ceramic braces and Invisalign. After your child’s initial consultation, Dr. Halgren will present you with their treatment plan and discuss which braces option is right for them!
Traditional Metal Braces
Made of high-grade stainless steel, traditional braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires.
Clear or Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces work the same as metal braces but can be clear or tooth-colored and are a more aesthetic option.
Invisible Braces (Invisalign)
Invisalign is the most discreet treatment option. These aligners are clear and molded to the teeth, making them almost invisible.
